EARLY CAREER

My professional career started over 20 years ago in the financial services industry in product development, strategic planning, and project management roles. Shortly after college, I joined a global investment firm, ING Funds (now known as Voya Financial), which at the time had over 200 mutual fund products and $100 billion in assets under management. I started as a finance and strategy analyst, building financial pro-formas and business cases to gain acceptance from the board-of-directors and shareholders for strategic initiatives that added millions of dollars in revenue to the company. During my tenure, I was quickly promoted a few times, eventually becoming a senior leader in the Product team, where I developed corporate strategies and led complex initiatives from cradle to grave, including Six Sigma projects that drove EBITDA improvement by hundreds of thousands of dollars. My specialty was leading mutual fund merger strategy and execution, and eventually, I became an internal consultant for other business lines seeking my advice and thought leadership. 

 

I'm forever thankful for my executive mentors at ING Funds since their customer-first mindset, fearless leadership, and intelligent approach to business were great lessons learned that I've carried with me throughout my career.

FORTUNE 500 EXPERIENCE

While working at ING Funds, I earned my MBA from Arizona State University and decided it was time for a new challenge and pursued my passion for sales and marketing. I was afforded the rare opportunity to join a new department called Strategic Planning and Business Development at PetSmart - the brainchild of then-CEO Bob Moran - which focused on product innovations, research, and testing innovative store formats to create a competitive advantage and accelerate sales. After proving my ability to lead those high-profile strategic initiatives, a couple years later I was tapped by the marketing organization at PetSmart to run multi-million dollar campaigns, craft customer experience strategies, and execute go-to-market plans for new products and services. I like to say that after earning my MBA, I earned a Ph.D. in Fortune 500 best practices from this successful retail powerhouse. From brand building to customer experience, ecommerce, and digital strategies, it provided rich experiences that have served my career well ever since.

SMB SUCCESS

During the last decade, after PetSmart, I built expertise in helping small- to mid-sized organizations scale and achieve sustainable revenue growth, across B2C and B2B channels.
